Breakup Lessons

Diamonds
Slowly roll
Down the
Soft Contours of
Her Lovely
Face and
Shatter on the
Floor

Many Promises made
All of them Broken.
Promises that
Couldn't have been
Kept in the
First Place

Telling you what you
Want to
Hear to be the
Guy you think you need.

Falling
Deeper and
Deeper
Thinking they
Feel the
Same.

Giving them a
Piece of you,
Trusting them
More than
Anything.

That most
Important
Piece
Returned in a
Condition you
Didn't Expect.

Scuffed up,
Torn up,
Jagged, and
Broken.

But it's
Fixable.
It can be
Put back to its
Original Luster
With a few
Small Marks.
Reminding you,
Teaching you, and
Most of all to
Give you
Hope.

Hope that
Next time
You can be
A little
Smarter.
Hope that
You'll see
Through the
Liars,
Players,
Cheaters, and
Users to
Find the
One you
Really do
Need
The one you
Can't live
Without.
